memo re: party time. file under Directions, Logistics

Hi everyone,

Time has passed so quickly, it’s hard to believe the big day is almost here.  Hurry! Get here so we can start celebrating!!

We wanted to give you more detailed information on the events including directions and parking information. Here goes:

Ceremony, Friday Aug. 19
San Francisco City Hall
1 Carlton B. Goodlett Place

We have the 4th Floor North Light Gallery, which is ours from 3-4pm. The ceremony will start around 3:30. Take the elevator to the 4th floor and walk north until you find us, it’s pretty easy. There is a South Light Gallery as well, but, handily, it overlooks the North Gallery so you’ll be able to see us if you’ve accidentally turned that direction.

Directions to City Hall:

Follow this link for driving directions to City Hall as well as parking information.  My guess is there will be plenty of metered parking spots on the surrounding streets available at that time, but there is a parking garage as well if you don’t want to bother.

For those not driving, Civic Center BART takes you right to City Hall. From the Union Square area downtown, it’s about a 20-minute walk. Taxis are a great option as well.

Dinner, Friday Aug. 19
From City Hall we head 1.2 miles southeast to the Potrero Hill neighborhood for dinner following the ceremony at:

Horatius
350 Kansas Street (btwn. Rhode Island and Vermont Streets)

Directions to Horatius from City Hall:

Go down Polk Street towards Market Street
Cross Market Street, which then becomes 10th Street
10th Street becomes Potrero Ave.
Turn Left on 16th Street
Turn Right on Kansas Street
Voila

Street parking is the only available option, but there should be plenty especially on Vermont Street.
For those not driving, your chariot is a taxi that will whisk you away for less than $10 (probably). We will be calling taxi companies earlier in the day and tipping them off to our locations, so getting one should be easy.

Cocktail Reception, Saturday Aug. 20

Ambiance Antiques
550 15th Street (between Utah and San Bruno Streets)
7:30 pm

Ambiance Antiques is 2.5 blocks from Horatius, so you’ll already be familiar with the neighborhood.

Parking is plentiful and right outside the entrance. Although the address is 15th Street, the entrance is actually on San Bruno Street – there will be a sandwich board out on 15th Street pointing you in the right direction.

This event is a cocktail party and as such, there will be a cornucopia of heavy appetizers (and cocktails) for you to enjoy. While there will be plenty of food, there will not be a full sit down dinner. Just something to keep in mind if you require 3 full squares a day.

Have I answered all of your questions?  Please call, email, etc. if you have any others.

See you soon,
Kaari and Tau

Time flies

Hi again, friends and family.

Our wedding date approaches...rather quickly.  Look at that, it's already June! Tau and I are busy planning and we're getting really excited.  This is going to be fun.

In case people need hotels, I know some guests have already booked at both the Marriott Union Square and the JW Marriott, both in Downtown SF.  Just to orient you out-of-towners a little, both hotels are about a 20 minute walk or a super quick taxi ride to City Hall, and about a 10 minute taxi ride to Potrero Hill, where the Friday night dinner and our Saturday night cocktail party will be held.

If anyone is trying to figure out childcare, please let us know.  We can help figure out sitters and stuff.

Invitations are heading your way soon!  We're working feverishly to get them out by the end of the month.

Did I mention we're excited?  We are!  Yay!

Love,
Kaari and Tau
